“I want the world to know and appreciate the fact that Almakura is always a conscientiously patriotic peacemaker, who stood out as a positively interconnected game changer in the social matrix of the society he finds himself. Everyone can now see that Almakura is not actually a greenhorn nor a stranger to the Nigerian political environment”

PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | JUNE 20, 2024

Umaru Tanko Al-Makura is not new in Nigerian politics. His sojourn into political life started way back in the 1980s during the Second Republic when he was an active and popular member of the then, National ruling Party of Nigeria, NPN before becoming its National Youth Leader. But this was short-lived following the Military coup of 1983, which terminated the civilian administration but he bounced back to political life after the ban on politics was lifted, by the Babangida administration and two Political Parties were registered, the NRC and SDP. He pitched camp with the NRC and after that, continued political struggles and would later be beckoned by destiny, to be popularly elected as Executive Governor of Nasarawa and afterwards becoming a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

In this interview Mallam Abdulkarim Muhammad Abdullahi who is a long time ally of the famous politician and one of the pillars that propelled him into the formation of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC,  spoke about the chances of Almakura becoming the God’s anointed successor to Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the incumbent National Chairman of APC, Nigerian inclusive and ethno-religiously tolerant Pan Nigerian Patriotic Unity Renewal Party. He He spoke with Gambo Hamza in this the chat.

Question: Sir, what can you tell us about the man, Tanko Almakura beyond being the Governor of Nasarawa State?

Thank you for that question. Without any doubt or bragging, I want to tell you that I consider myself as one of the few closest people to Almakura right from our pre-adulthood. If there is anyone who understands him Al-Makura, inside out politically and psychologically speaking, I am one of them. Alhaji Umaru Al-Makura is one such lucky person who was born with politics running in his blood right from his secondary school days up to his University educational level. He found himself actively engaged in Students’ Unionism and that helped to sharpen his skills and prepare him for greater role in wider national politics.

This can be understood from his foresight in the formation of a unique political amalgam tagged, “Al’ummah Movement a political pressure group formed as a rallying point for youths and other marginalised political groups and discriminated activists, irrespective of party affiliation. The Movement played a significant role during the second Republic as the platform for the less privileged and downtrodden as well as the voiceless.

Therefore, even as a young secondary school-cum Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria undergraduate, Almakura was ideologically involved in rebranding the political landscape of his native Lafia Division, from the insolently captive and vengeful power-block moneybags and exclusivist Mafia grouping cartels to a more tolerantly motivated syndicated grouping matrix tagged “Al’Umma Collective Humanitarian Brotherhoods Movement” which his Senior brother, Alhaji Ahmadu Almakura spearheaded its formation with mentored young Al-Makura and the future CPC Governor of Nasarawa State as its arrowhead.
Let me hereby remind our pro-talakawa Tinubu-Shettima pro-masses national support groups, that the CPC Manifesto was co-opted from the Al’Umma Collective Humanitarian Brotherhoods Movement’s social organogram.

Al-Makura who was the most sagaciously iconic and influentially egregious student at the prestigious Government College Keffi, is a good pan-Nigerian patriot who is always in the company of good Nigerian mix, regardless of their ancestral affinity or religious identity.

Question: Of recent, there have been rumours and speculations of Tanko Al-Makura vying for the office of the National Chairman of APC. What is your take on this?

Mallam Abdulkarim Muhammad Abdullahi, Founder and National Patron Nationwide Grassroot Mobilization Fellowship Ambassadors

A lot of people seem to be convinced beyond any reasonable level of doubt by conscientiously spiritual sincerity, why Almakura is unarguably, the most deserving of the National Chairmanship of the APC after the official duration granted to the incumbent Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umaru Ganduje’s tenure expires.

I want the world to know and appreciate the fact that Al-Makura is always a conscientiously patriotic peacemaker, who stood out as a positively interconnected game changer in the social matrix of the society he finds himself. Everyone can now see that Almakura is not actually a greenhorn nor a stranger to the Nigerian political environment.

This is a young Nigerian born with unyielding spiritual values and youthful zeal and vigour, reinforced by daring national unity optimism full of determination to protect the weak and vulnerable Nigerian masses. As a former Governor and Senator, people have seen how he performed credibly well as an emancipator and unifier, bringing people of different political and religious backgrounds together under his Government, against all odds and distinguished himself well as a man of the people, without prebendal prejudices nor parochial inclinations or frivolities!

If he eventually succeeds Ganduje as the Party leader, he will surely bring his wealth of experience, expertise, extensive network of contacts and connections to bear in the administration and conduct of party affairs at the national level.
