“Our investigation revealed that the project was supposed to have been executed in collaboration with a company (or is it an NGO front) called, CM Network Palm Tree Plantation Development Project which collected a mandatory registration fee of N2,000 (Two Thousand Naira) from each applicant and issued forms officially indemnified and bearing the same no NO:1011229”
PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | NOVEMBER 14, 2023
Nasarawa state farmers under the auspices of the Northern Youths Assembly of Nigeria -NYAN have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the mismanagement of Grant-in-aid Fund, to the tune of€80 million Euros, earmarked for Palm Tree Plantation Development Project which applications to access by Nigerian farmers are still left unattended.
The spokesman of the farmers and founder of the body, Mallam Abdulkarim Muhammad Abdullahi, alias Baban Talakawa made exclusively presented the grievance to Pegasus Reporters in Abuja in Monday.
According to the statement, the farmers’ spokesman alleged that, “they reliably gathered that the Grant-in-aid project was originally earmarked for disbursements to Nigerian peasant farmers but was allegedly trapped, laundered and misappropriated by the embattled former Governor of the CBN”
The group therefore pleaded with the EFCC to investigate the matter so that the fund can be retrieved for the purposes it was given as aid.

The full statement reads as follows:
HOW NASARAWA STATE PEASANT FARMERS WERE SWINDLED OF €80m GRANT BY CBN
This is an Important S.O.S and Special letter of petition against former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele now in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crime Anti-Graft Investigations Commission, EFCC, in respect of a fraudulent scam and covert breach of trust and deliberate intention to defraud us more than 1, 000 applicants of Nasarawa State, who applied for our country’s allocated remittance of Grant-in-aid Fund, to the tune of€80 million Euros, earmarked for Palm Tree Plantation Development Project whose application and registration are still pending for disbursements in the custody of said Emefiele when he was still the Governor of CBN.
We reliably gathered that the Grant-in-aid project was originally earmarked for disbursements to Nigerian peasant farmers but was allegedly trapped, laundered and misappropriated by the embattled former Governor of the CBN.
In the light of the aforementioned facts, vis-a-vis the contentious impunity displayed with regard to the aforementioned Palm tree projects to alleviate the horrible hardships and usually absurd poverty and marginalization of the rural peasant masses and absolutely abandoned rural Communities, we wish to hereby appeal for official Investigation and recovery of the said Grant-in-aid Fund.
Our investigation revealed that the project was supposed to have been executed in collaboration with a company (or is it an NGO front) called, CM Network Palm Tree Plantation Development Project which collected a mandatory registration fee of N2,000 (Two Thousand Naira) from each applicant and issued forms officially indemnified and bearing the same no NO:1011229.

Sir, in fidelity to the above highlights and the historical accuracy as well as valid integrity of our submission, we implored the new CBN Governor and all other relevant investigative authorities to urgently investigate this matter to ensure justice is done to the beneficiaries.
We also aware that we are only syndicated beneficiaries or individual community participants, through their official engagements’ partners, called “Nation Builders Small Holders Agricultural Cooperative Multipurpose Society Ltd whose recorded address is at Plot 97 “N” Crescent, Premier Academy Road, FHA, Airport Road, Lugbe, Abuja; phone, 08038609726, 080-35523343, 08035457444, respectively.
We should be grateful and thankful if you could kindly revisit this project which other African countries are reportedly been harvesting their own products, while our country’s allocated remittance was alleged to have been permanently trapped in the former CBN Governor’s corruptly syndicated and forgotten Treasury Vaults.
Thank you.
Mallam Abdulkarim Muhammad Abdullahi, Convener Northern Youths Assembly of Nigeria -NYAN
