“For keen political observers and party pundits, the opposition to Barrister Kana’s appointment did not come as a surprise given his intimidating credentials and accelerated rise in political life coupled with his general acceptability by ranks and files which stands him out as truly a man of the people”

PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | AUGUST 23, 2023
Introducing the APC’s new Legal Adviser, Barrister Professor Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, a hardcore professional lawyer with global clout and profound professional influence, and global integrity to match.
Indeed, the road to becoming the National Legal Adviser of the ruling party, APC, has not been an easy one. From internal opposition within the party to external forces and enemies who openly and secretly engaged in smear campaigns to those who were simply not comfortable with his emergence as the new legal authority of the party. The list of enemies is endless but inconsequential as far as the struggle to produce the most credible and competent Legal Luminary of the Party is concerned.
With the active support of lovers of democracy and the rule of law including progressive elements within the Party, Barrister Abdulkarim Kana has painfully surmounted all the pressure and hiccups and is set to emerge as the new Legal Adviser of the Party God willing.
For keen political observers and party pundits, the opposition to Barrister Kana’s appointment did not come as a surprise given his intimidating credentials and accelerated rise in political life coupled with his general acceptability by ranks and files which stands him out as truly a man of the people.
Apart from his impressive scholarly contributions to the growth and development of the legal profession especially at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi where he teaches Law, Barrister Kana has contributed immensely in the political arena having been part of the formation and growth of the APC in his home State of Nasarawa resulting in his appointment as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice for 8 years.
As someone who campaigned vigorously for the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Party’s flagbearer and his subsequent election as the President, there is no better way of rewarding and compensating him than giving him the chance to serve the Party in the capacity he knows best.
No doubt, his appointment as the APC Legal Adviser, is a clear reflection of his expertise and commitment to the promotion of ethical standards as the former Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
There is a consensus of opinion within and outside the APC family that the Party has never had it so good and gotten the most competent hand on the job until now.
Aside from his political appointment as Attorney General, Barrister Kana was at one time a member, of the Nigerian Council of Legal Education, Counsel to the National Judicial Council, Visiting Lecturer at the Nigerian Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies Abuja, member of the National Council on Water of Nigeria as well as member, National Council on Power of Nigeria.
With his membership in all these bodies as well as vast knowledge and experience in life, the sky will be the limit for the new Legal helmsman in town also considered to be a rare gem, a consummate administrator, and a community leader.
I’m sure that the APC couldn’t have found a more versatile, professionally competent, and qualified legal wizard to power the uncompromisable reforms agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu than Barrister Kana.
