A North East-based political support group, Tinubu Support Movement,  has honoured the Ag. Executive Director, Administration, and Finance, North-East Development Commission (NEDC), Musa Umar Yashi for his commitment to humanitarian services in the zone especially in the areas of humanitarian concerns in the hitherto Boko Haram ravaged region of Nigeria.

In a press statement sent to Pegasus Reporters and signed by Administrative Secretary, North-East Zonal Coordinator, Tinubu Support Movement, TSM, and Honourable Yazid Inuwa Malamin Kasuwa, titled “Honour Is Given To Whom Honour Is Well-deserved” the group described Alhaji Musa Umar Yashi as a “Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, as great Nigerian patriot; a man of honour and dignity; seasoned administrator; human rights advocate; philanthropist par excellence; statesman and respected community leader; democrat and a leader personified!”

The honouree, Musa Umar Yashi, who was born in Yashi, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, will be recalled, as a Meritorious Presidential Recipient of Most Outstanding Humanitarian Person of the Year 2022 on United Nations (UN) World Humanitarian Day (WHD 2022) as a highly detribalized Nigerian from his days as a youth in the University.

The statement stated that Alhaji Yashi has cast indelible legacies as a humanitarian patriot whose footprints will forever remain on the sands of time and will continue to reverberate as a reference point to the present generation and indeed the future generations when he meritoriously served and retired a Director in the Federal Civil Service in that capacity for eleven (11) years as well as, overseeing the offices of the Permanent Secretary severally in the former Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and Federal Ministry of Education before retiring in January 2010 with honour and dignity.

According to him, “Although the statesman, Musa Umar Yashi needs no further introduction to the good people of Bauchi State; North-East or the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the global community at large deserves to acknowledge his service to this great nation in both national and international engagements with distinctions, and the passion he has displayed to continue serving our beloved country as borne out of his deep Nigerian patriotism in the NEDC”

He explained that the people of Alkaleri Local Government Area; the People of Bauchi State; the great people of the North-East States of Nigeria and men of goodwill and compatriots nationwide are proud to be associated with Musa Yashi’s laudable achievements and accomplishments not only during his years with the civil service but for his continuing service as a pivot of administrative excellence in the North East Development Commission.

The statement further wishes the entire Ag. Governing Board of North-East Development Commission (NEDC) a speedy and successful confirmation by the Nigerian Senate as NEDC is crucial to the success of the President and Commander-in-Chief of The Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and deputy, His Excellency Vice-President Kashim Ibrahim Shettima (GCON) administration towards actualizing the Renewed Hope National Agenda for a better future of this generation of Nigerians and indeed the future generations.

It prayed that Almighty God will continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Ag. Governing Board of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC), endowing it with the capacity to keep on serving the North-East States with the same vigor, professionalism, commitment, dedication, and resilience with all sense of patriotism.

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC), was established in 2017, after the Bill establishing the Commission was passed by the Senate of the Federal Republic and signed into Law by the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR on October 25th, 2017. The Establishment Act Mandates the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) to coordinate “the resettlement, rehabilitation, integration, and reconstruction of infrastructure for victims of terrorism as well as tackling the menace of excessive poverty, illiteracy, ecological challenges in the North-East States and other related matters”.
