President Muhammmadu Buhari has conferred on the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR), Nigeria’s highest honour, as Vice President-elect Kashim Settima was decorated as Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger, GCON.

The investiture of national honours and the official handover of transition documents ceremony were performed at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday morning.

On Monday, May 29th, Tinubu will be sworn in as the next President of Nigeria, with Senator Kashim Shettima as vice-president succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy, Prof. Osinbajo as Nigeria’s 16th president.

The 2023 presidential inauguration will mark Nigeria’s 7th consecutive democratic transition.
