Lagos state, the Progressives’ “centre of excellence” since 1999 is in a mourning mood as a little-known opposition Labour party of Peter Obi defeated the ruling All Progressives Congress with a narrow margin of fewer than 8000 votes.

An announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC gave the labour party a total of 582,454 votes to the APC which polled 572,606 leaving the main opposition party the peoples democratic party, PDP with a third place with 75,750 votes.
