The award to Mallam Musa Umar Yashi, is to me, probably the best practical citation for confirmation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s undeniable integrity test and I salute both the Awardee and the President!
Let me, on behalf of my wife, children and grandchildren, start this letter of congratulations, with a befitting prayer of glory and other forms of spiritual exultations to the Almighty God for His divine mercy, for this honour bestowed on our most distinguished family friend and unique brother, Mallam Musa Yashi.
It is our pleasant belief that the timely and honoured favour of being awarded the Prestigious Presidential Award of the Best and Most Outstanding Humanitarian Person of the Year as the Executive Director, Humanitarian Affairs of the North East Development Commission – NEDC is a crowning glory to an outstanding public life and contribution to humanity.
You are a thoroughbred son of Nigeria, even as attested to by your youth years!
My brother, Yashi, it’s great to be alive and a witness to part of your kindness and past generosity, when as the former Government Liaison Officer of (Old) Bauchi State in Lagos in the 1980s, your house was then, virtually a “Transit Camp”, nay, an “Emergency Refugee Camp” for all manner of Nigerian diversities, regardless of their ethnic, religious and tribal identities or economic status. It’s therefore no surprise to us who are mere mortals that the Almighty God, was divinely training and testing your human benevolence as well as your vulnerability as a potential leader, whom he had earmarked for the capacity to serve humanity beyond the level and scope of ordinary human endurance; a compassionate human being to a fault, but very fearless, firm and resolute at home and all the places you worked.
Perhaps, those of us who immensely benefited from your kind-hearted disposition could be used for attestation of how your wives were always inconveniently discomforted to cater for our needs beyond the threshold of human tolerance. And for all of us who know you and the selfless services you rendered for the sake of our common humanity, without the slightest expression of any forms of discriminatory prejudices, we knew God created you, not only to serve your humanity but to also save the human communities from the harmful vilifications of satanic display of unwarranted intolerance.

I am not surprised at this excellent and meritorious award to this God-sent man to humanity on this planet earth. Except for someone who has not known or met Alh. Musa Yashi, he is a detribalized philanthropist, a true Nigerian patriot, he is one out of hundreds that qualify for this award. I have known and worked with him for over twelve (12) years, his greatest concern is how to assist people who are far and near him. In fact, he deserves more than this award. May God bless, reward and preserve him continually.
Congratulations once again Sir Umar Musa Yashi for a well deserved honor. It is by no accident that my late father named one of his son, my brother Musa after you; people honor and reincarnate only those they value and respect, certainly for being good and symbolic to them. And I won’t forget the fact that the last meal my father ate while on his sick bed, tuwo and miyan kuka on his request, was prepared from your house. And that you remember me and the family when I least expected at intervals, is a solid indication of how promising and magnanimous you are. You are indeed humanitarian and I respect and appreciate you a lot. I pray that the Almighty Allah continue to bless and protect you.
