Pro-Tinubu Group Knocks Opposition For Tagging Bishops at Kashim Shettima Unveiling As Fake; Calls For Restraints

The Coalition for A Better Nigeria, an Umbrella Body of hundreds of Youths’ and Students’ Organisations within and outside Nigeria has flagged the opposition for tagging clergymen who attended Wednesday’s unveiling of the All Progressives Congress’ running mate, as fake and unknown Bishops.

A press statement dated 21 July and signed by the Coordinator of the group tasked Christians especially the leadership from playing into the hands of the opposition and fifth columnists. A full statement of the press release is published below:

“The social media campaign against the Clergymen that attended the unveiling of Senator Kashim Shettima as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Running mate for the 2023 Presidential election which held yesterday at Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre, Abuja, could be described as the handiwork of Opposition and unwarranted distraction by Fifth Columnists.

“Sometimes, it is very important to allow your dog to bark because that’s what God Almighty created them for. During this period of their wailing and ranting on social media, we have successfully picked holes in their claim and it is now time to get the whole story burst within a twinkle of an eye

“We are to set the record straight without joining issue with any one of them because they have proved themselves to be low in their level of reasoning and not ripe for intellectual debate.

“On his Facebook page, one Mr Daniel Ogolo claimed that the Bishop in white Garment was the father of his neighbour’s house help and the girl told him that her father is a bricklayer, when we asked for the name of this Bricklayer and his address, which he claimed was close to his own residence, immediately, he got this message deleted. “The Third post of Mr Daniel Ogolo was about loose collars of some Bishops. All these happened within the interval of a few minutes and were being promoted on various social media platforms to misinform millions of people across the globe. Like several others, this is exactly the source, where Reverend Joseph John Hayab, Chairman, Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN), Kaduna State and Vice President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern States plus Federal Capital, picked their story of yesterday’s attendance of mechanic and artisan Bishops from

“Mr Lere Olayinka, the Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State and also the PDP 2023 Senatorial Candidate for Ekiti Central Senatorial District, said that One of these Bishops, Prophet Ughokwe Prince, contested for the APC Deputy Youth Leader, Southeast, in the last APC Convention. This is highly understandable because it was borne out of fear of losing to the APC Candidate in the 2023 National Assembly Election in Ekiti State. As far as he is concerned, he is fond of Character assassination and the result of his past activities on social media was the outcome of the PDP Gubernatorial election contest in Ekiti State in which the Party came Third. The Cleric that he was referring to, is a Clergyman as well as a young Politician and there’s no law in the Constitution that forbids this. Attached herewith is his own timely response.

“We later found out that Mr Daniel Ogolo and co are permanently on social media working as propagandists for the opposition!

“It should be noted that some highly respected APC Christian Politicians in the Northern States who are also Keenly interested in becoming the APC Presidential Running mate must be behind various protests and media attacks of the choice of Senator Kashim Shettima. We are using this platform to appeal to all of them because the selection of Senator Kashim Shettima is ” a hard choice” according to the incoming President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Any other consideration would surely lead to the “crash-landing” of APC in the 2023 Presidential election in the Northern States.

“The last Saturday gubernatorial election in Osun State was won by the PDP using Christian – Christian ticket and there was no iota of protest from the Muslim faithful. The leadership of the engine Room of Democracy, which is the National Assembly, must be conceded to a Christian Senate President apart from other important Portfolios both at the National Assembly and Federal Executive Council if APC wins the 2023 Presidency. Therefore, we must all remain united in the interest of the peace and progress of the Country and support the APC Muslim Muslim Ticket.
