Perspective In Politics: Making Common Sense Very Common – By Adewale Williams

‘He loves education: Many of the youths who are today flexing on social media were beneficiaries of his free education, payment of WAEC fees (since 1999 till date), the one day governor idea, see what the Lagos State University, LASU has become, and what is even still being done today. Do you think Tinubu will sit down and allow ASUU to stay this long on strike? For those who will want to say but why can’t he talk to Buhari? Well, it is Buhari’s government. He can only advice if they will listen’

PEGASUS REPORTERS: JUNE 1, 2022

I have always been amazed at the kinds of nonsense being churned out on social media and shocking of all is that people who can well be classified as ‘middle class’ are leading the way with the continuous character assassination of various candidates especially Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Many see him as their life problem when the man in question does not even notice their  existence. Truth be told, I have never seen a well focused human like Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards the actualization of his dream and many of us need to learn from him how he has achieved so much success in life. But jealousy will not let you.

Let me focus on the need to make Common Sense very common and let us be focused about how we can move this nation forward as we prepare for the next dispensation. Many who lived in Lagos in the 60s and 70s will not forget how young people at that time found their way abroad and make a life for themselves. Asiwaju was one of them to achieve that from poverty to being a Stowaway, to entering a school abroad, to making a life for himself as a graduate in the USA, working in top companies for years and later deciding to go into politics to serve his people. From all this, serving as senator, surviving on the run in exile from the military, returning to become a Governor, anointing a worthy citizen to take over from him after his tenure ended (this is real lesson in leadership), building a political structure for others to use to fulfill their lifelong dreams, bidding his time and coming out finally to contest for the highest office in the country. How many have been able to achieve this with hard work, resilience, prayer and determination? NONE!

Now those who suddenly see Peter Obi as the fresh breath of air should not forget, he is ONE of them! He is a billionaire, became a governor like Tinubu, ruled at the same time and is now aiming for the highest office. I don’t malign candidates, rather I will praise them for offering to serve. It is not moinmoin. But I advice those supporting different candidates to focus on issues and the positives of their candidates rather than spend time maligning others. For if you point one finger,. the remaining four are directed at your candidate too. THAT IS COMMON SENSE!

So why do I support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu?

1. He has inbuilt entrepreneurial spirit. He has lived in an environment where MSMEs succeed, he has done a lot to aid business development while in govt. He has supported many businesses to survive and put food on many tables. He knows where the shoe pinches and with the small businesses needing the right tonic to be successful, he will do the right thing to make them grow

2. He loves education: Many of the youths who are today flexing on social media were beneficiaries of his free education, payment of WAEC fees (since 1999 till date), the one day governor idea, see what the Lagos State University, LASU has become, and what is even still being done today. Do you think Tinubu will sit down and allow ASUU to stay this long on strike? For those who will want to say but why can’t he talk to Buhari? Well, it is Buhari’s government. He can only advice if they will listen.

3. He will not allow Lagos port to be the only port in Nigeria. We have many ports, but the closure of other ports is a problem to increase turn over from imports and encourage exports.

4. He will focus on our mineral resources Many of you don’t know the wealth we have hidden in our soils outside the crude oil. Did you know Nigeria gold is well recognised is Dubai gold market. Did you know that people. are mining lithium, cobalt and a lot of rich minerals in this country. Let me not even talk about bitumen. Hmmm

5. Nigerian companies will begin to produce products the world will appreciate and exports of our products and not commodities will be on shelves of supermarkets across the world.

There are so many other things we can focus on and push our candidates to look at than all the rubbish on social media. This is the reason why when thethe candidates get there, they would have lost focus on what to do and how to go about it.

What does your candidate have to offer? How can we make the candidates better? How can we make this country better. This should be the focus for COMMON SENSE practitioners and not the colour of their poop or who is talking like ostrich or who is eyeing the other or who is too old feeble and cannot even wee wee. Only children talk like that!
