PEGASUS REPORTERS, LAGOS | DECEMBER 16, 2021

The ever busy Balogun market on Lagos Island Thursday morning went up in flame with fire-fighters battling to contain the inferno amidst wailing from shop owners and sympathizers.

While the cause of the inferno is still unknown, policemen and security personnel have been drafted to the scene to ward off miscreants and Area Boys who are angling to self-help in the guise of assisting to put-off the fires.

Our corespondent who spoke with some traders at the scene said that the fire was likely cursed by an electrical fault but couldn’t determine the exact shop it began.

As at the time of this report, shops stocking goods worth several millions of naira have been consumed by the raging inferno even as the fire-fighter from the Island, Ikoyi, Surulere and many others have joined in battling the fire incident.
