Grand Council of Yoruba Youths has congratulated the Olubadan and the 21st Olu of Warri Kingdom on their birthday and ascension to the throne respectively of the monarchs.
The Olubadan of Ibadan is celebrated his 93rd birthday recently while the Olu of Warri penultimate week accended the throne of his forefathers as the 21st Olu of Warri.
A press statement signed by the President-General of the group, Comrade AWA Bamiji salutes the two revered monarchs on the occasions and wish them peace and longevity as they discharge their traditional responsibilities to their domains.
The statement specifically acknowledges the noble role of two eminent Yoruba Obas have been playing in contributing to the development of Oyo and Osun states.
“It is now time to acknowledge that it was a Birthday celebration’s galore last week from Lagos State, to Oyo State and to Osun State as His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji Aje Ogungunniso I, Olubadan of Ibadanland, celebrated his 93rd year Birthday anniversary in Ibadan, Oyo State Capital. Kabiyesi, your reign has brought tremendous development to Ibadanland under a peaceful atmosphere and we couldn’t do otherwise than to continue thanking God Almighty for having you as present Olubadan of Ibadanland and continue celebrating you while you are still alive.
“Esin Oba a je Oko pe o. Kabiyesi, Irukere a di Okinnin, Igba Odun, Odun kan. Congratulations Sir!”
In a related instance, the group greeted the Olu of Warri on his recent coronation as the 21st in the line of his ancestors saying:
“We heartily felicitate with the newly crowned Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atunwatse III. We are very happy that you ascended the throne of your forefathers at the youthful age of 37 and wish you long life and prosperity on the throne”
The group also greet the following important Yoruba, sons as they celebrated their birthday recently. The relevant portion of the statement reads:
“As well as our 2 humble and young men, strategic Comrades of our time, ever progressive, ever dynamic and ever committed members of the Governments in both Lagos and Osun States, Mr Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and Rt (Hon) Timothy Owoeye, the Honourable Speaker, House of Assembly, Osun State, who clocked 57 and 49 years of age respectively.
“According to Yoruba adage “Eni a p’ete p’ero wipe ka da Owo re de’le, pipele ni o npele si”. “God Almighty has been so faithful to both of you and by so doing, He has been putting your Enemies into shame”.
“Your coveted Political achievements are worthy of emulation, it’s on this note, we join millions of your families, friends and Associates across the Globe to say many Happy Returns”.
They congratulated Hon (Chief) Akin Oluwadare for being installed as one of the High Chiefs of your hometown on Thursday, 16th August 2021, and we understand that the Iwuye ceremony took place 9 days after on Tuesday, 24th August, 2021, as the SARIBI OF ARAMOKO KINGDOM, EKITI STATE.
In another instance, the group mourns the death of some personalities as well as announced the burial rites for the late Chief Durojaiye.
“We mourn the exit of Brigadier General Adetunji Idowu Olurin (Rtd), former military Governor of old Oyo State, aged 76 years, and his Counterpart, Rear Admiral Sunday Abiodun Olukoya (Rtd) former military Governor of old Ondo State during the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida regime between September 1990 to January 1992”

“It is our humble way to honour our departed Acting Leader of Afenifere, immediate Past Chairman of Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), a Restructure Advocate and leading Omoluwabi of Oduduwaland, Otunba Senator Augustine Olabiyi Durojaiye, mni, who mentored us for over 2 decades before passing on last week in Lagos at the age of 88, by mourning this great soul for at least a week.
“You had both left indelible ink in the sand of time. May your gentle souls rest in peace”

Sunday, 19th September 2021, Outing Service, 10am, at Saint Mattew Anglican Cathedral Church, Ojowo, Ijebu – Igbo.
We, therefore, urge the Leadership of Yoruba Students and Youths to attend accordingly as COVID – 19 Protocols will be strictly adhered to by the Adults.
